Hubble Space Telescope Model KitThe Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Space Craft Science Kit is very realistic… so much so that it is hard to tell from a distance that it’s made of paper. Many of its parts have bonded metal foil, and look like they’re made of metal. Blue and gold-foil solar panels. Internal details include reflective primary and secondary mirrors, printed trusses and baffles. Includes information on how to modify the completed laser-cut, paper card stock model to illustrate installing new instruments as astronauts did first in December, 1993, and again on later upgrade missions. Assembled model is about 10 inches (26 cm) overall. Scale is approximately 1/65.

The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope in orbit around the Earth, named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. Its position outside the Earth’s atmosphere provides significant advantages over ground-based telescopes — images are not blurred by the atmosphere, there is no background from light scattered by the air, and the Hubble can observe ultra-violet light that is normally absorbed by the ozone layer in observations made from Earth. Since its launch in 1990, it has become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy. With it, astronomers have made many observations leading to breakthroughs in astrophysics. Hubble’s Ultra Deep Field is the most sensitive astronomical optical image ever taken.Features:Scale – 1/48 Length – 12.875″Please allow 3 to 6 months from the time of order to delivery, as these models are custom made upon ordering. Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the UniverseIn Large Format, 15 x 11 inches! The Hubble Space Telescope’s work has been an important adjunct to other astronomical research, allowing scientists, for one thing, to age-date star clusters far beyond our own galaxy and to propose an age for the universe of about 12 billion to 16 billion years. It has also inspired lay readers with its trove of magnificent photographs, of which this book gathers more than 100 taken over Hubble’s years of duty. The images are accompanied with a well-written explanatory text, altogether adding up to a volume that rewards repeated visits by readers of all ages.Features:Paperback: 64 pages Publisher: Harry N. Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hubble in orbit in 2010! Put the experience of our world in a greater space right on your desk with this beautiful Hubble Space Telescope Illuminated Crystal Sculpture. This piece was made for the Voyage National Program. A national treasure, the Hubble Space Telescope has dramatically altered both the depth and breadth of knowledge concerning our Solar System, our galaxy, and the universe. Its images are breathtaking and humbling, and its accomplishments are now known by billions of humans on planet Earth. We should take pride in the human capacity to build such an exquisite instrument of exploration. This art was originally commissioned by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation for inclusion in the Explorers Stanchion of the Voyage model Solar System in Kansas City, Kansas. The Explorers Stanchion is located in front of Kansas City’s historic Union Station. This beautiful crystal sculpture captures the Hubble Space Telescope in low Earth orbit, peering into the depths of space. The sculpture comes with a large light base. The light base uses a 120-v power cord with no battery option.

At last, a book presenting the fantastic scientific results of the first five years of Hubble Space Telescope observations! While a number of books for the general public emphasize the technological accomplishments of this multi-billion dollar project or deal with the well-publicized flaw in the telescope’s optics, The Hubble: A New Window to the Universe concentrates on its astromonical achievements. The authors use new and ground-breaking Hubble results to illustrate a wide range of astronomical topics, from the great questions about the universe as a whole to quasars and black holes, and from the life and death of stars to our planetary neighbors in the solar system. The first part of this book presents a brief historical overview, "From Babylon to Cape Canaveral," concentrating on progress in astromony from the instrumentation point of view and on the Hubble project itself. The central and largest portion presents the wealth of exciting astronomical results obtained with the Hubble. The last part describes the Hubble operations, as well as the plans for the future of the telescope itself and beyond. The text contains a large number of spectacular images, mainly taken with the Hubble, as well as self-contained portraits of astronomers and explanations of astronomical topics and instruments. Written in a style appealing to both the interested public and to individuals familiar with the field, this compendium serves as a testament to the significant role the Hubble has played in astronomical accomplishment and discovery the past five years.
